Coating Thickness Measurement
Feature Overview
- No scaffolding required—no need to sand or apply anti-corrosion coatings, and no coupling agents are needed. The remote control system enables rapid detection of high-altitude wall thickness corrosion, making it suitable for conducting tests on conductive materials such as carbon steel, cast steel, and alloy steel.
- No need to polish the workpiece surface, remove the anti-corrosion coating or rust from the surface, or apply a coupling agent.
- Measurement of non-perpendicularity (transducer/probe relative to the normal of the test object) up to ±25° allows for relaxed verticality requirements after probe placement.
- Utilizing an expert intelligent algorithm, it features three thickness measurement modes: automatic mode, single-gate manual mode (single-peak method for measurement), and dual-gate manual mode (peak-to-peak method for measurement). This significantly reduces the influence of human error and simplifies the operational steps.
- Equipped with an automatic high-temperature sound velocity compensation and correction function, the probe features a built-in sensor that automatically triggers an alarm when the probe temperature exceeds the preset threshold.
- Wireless operation and transmission—no coil required, making it easy to carry.
- The thickness measurement device comes with a built-in database of basic material shear wave velocities, and the shear wave velocity values can also be customized.
- The robot weighs less than 5 kg, making it lightweight and highly maneuverable.
- Plug-in lithium battery, easy to replace for longer-lasting battery life.
- Interchangeable fixture. Compatible with various thickness gauges and customizable to suit other instruments.
- Dual cameras provide real-time feedback on the test environment.
EMAT electromagnetic ultrasonic technology consists of a permanent magnet and a conductor carrying alternating current. As AC energy flows through the non-contact coil, it generates an alternating magnetic field, which induces eddy currents on the surface of the base material. Charged particles moving within this magnetic field experience the Lorentz force, causing them to repeatedly change direction along the surface of the object being inspected. This Lorentz force induces controlled micro-vibrations in the particles within the eddy-current region, ultimately generating ultrasonic waves at the surface of the base material. The rebounded ultrasonic energy is then directly detected by the non-contact coil—primarily through magnetostrictive effects—yielding measurable detection signals that reflect the material's characteristics.

The EM4000 Creep Corrosion Thickness Measurement System connects wirelessly to tablets, smartphones, or other Android devices. It supports both A-scan and B-scan modes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can't charge the device?
The device may have been left unused for too long, causing the battery to lose charge. You can try charging it for an extended period. If there’s still no response, we recommend sending it in for repair. Also, please use the dedicated charger provided for each device when charging.
Can't connect the thickness gauge's flat plate to the instrument?
First, turn on the tablet’s hotspot and check whether the eight-digit number in the hotspot name matches the eight-digit SN code of the device. If they don’t match, make the necessary adjustments. Then, follow the instructions in the manual to connect the tablet. If you’re still unable to proceed, we recommend contacting customer support for assistance.
How can I fix the issue of fluctuating readings during thickness measurement?
It is recommended to connect the flat plate during the thickness measurement process and observe the waveform. If the waveform appears poor, switch to manual mode for inspection. If no consistent waveform is detected, consider potential material issues or probe damage—replace the probe and try again. If no waveform still appears after replacing the probe, the material itself may be of poor quality, making it unable to generate an effective signal.
